Click here to make a donation so that the event can be free and open to the public at no charge.
All Souls UU Church and Willow Productions invite you to walk the Labyrinth with Margie Adam
on Sunday, October 1 at 1pm at
All Souls UU Church, 4501 Walnut, KCMO.
FREE
The labyrinth is a walking meditation activity that can also be used as a community-building tool for "long haul" social change activism. Veteran feminist singer-songwriter Margie Adam brings her activist perspective to this ancient contemplative practice in a workshop which includes historical context, applications for our peace & justice work and a walk on her 36 Ft. canvas labyrinth.
Having studied extensively with Dr. Lauren Artress, author and founder of Veriditas, the World-Wide Labyrinth Project, Margie has developed her own perspective on applications of the labyrinth for personal growth, stress reduction as well as community-building.
Margie's labyrinth workshop presentation incorporates historical context and discussion.

Iraq: How We Got In: How We Get Out
Former CIA Analyst Ray McGovern comes to the Show-Me State!

Wednesday, October 4th at 7:30pm

Ray McGovern is a retired CIA analyst whose career spanned 27 years--from the administration of John F. Kennedy to that of George H. W. Bush.

In January 2003, after it had become clear that intelligence analysis was being corrupted by political pressure to "justify" an unprovoked attack on Iraq, a handful of intelligence community alumnae, including McGovern, created Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS). VIPS now includes 55 former professionals from the CIA, the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Department of State's Bureau of Intelligence and Research, Army Intelligence, the FBI, the National Security Agency, and other US and Allied intelligence agencies.

From Megachurches in Texas, to Music Festivals in Vermont, to MTV protests in New York, they discover that the fanaticism with which mainstream media characterizes Christian America tells only one side of a diverse and fascinating story.
