Jewish Israeli Uri Davis, of Mosaic Communities, an organization that tries to integrate Jewish and Arab neighborhoods in Israel, will speak at Broadway United Methodist Church on Tuesday, May 1, at 7 PM in the Fellowship Hall. The event is open to the public. Mr. Davis will address the question of apartheid, raised by former President Jimmy Carter and others.
The event is hosted by Citizens for Justice in the Middle East. A freewill offering will be taken.

On May 10, the symposium continues at the J.C. Penney Conference Center, University of Missouri-St. Louis, with two plenary sessions and 15 workshops in five educational strands:

The North Cass Progressives will meet on Thursday, May 17, at the Allen Bank in Raymore at 6:30 p.m. The Belton Schools Superintendent will be our speaker. Some of the topics he will cover will be the A+ school program, NCLB and how TIF affects the Belton schools. Everyone who is interested is invited to attend.
The May Wyandotte County Third Saturday Democratic Breakfast meets Saturday, May 19 at The Woodlands, 9700 Leavenworth Road. This month our speaker will be Mayor Joe Reardon. A buffet is available at 8:15 am and the program begins at 9:15. Cost for the buffet is ten dollars, which includes tax, service and tip; seven dollars for students and those with limited income. We had 58 Democrats attend last month's breakfast.

No Coffee Next Week
I am afraid, for the first time in a year and a half, I am going to have to cancel next weekend's "Coffee with Cleaver." This would have been our 19th month in a row of coming to your neighborhoods to talk through the issues of the day. My apologies.
Speaker Pelosi has asked me to join her on a trip to Greenland, Brussels and Great Britain, where we will meet with the new Prime Minister. It is an honor to be asked to represent the Congress on this trip and I am anxious to see first hand the receding ice sheet in Greenland.
