The August Wyandotte County Third Saturday Democratic Breakfast will meet this Saturday, August 16 at our new location, Granny's Chicken, 1340 Village West Parkway. Granny's is located behind Famous Dave's Barbeque, in the former W.J. McBride's Irish Pub location in Village West. The forum focuses on education, with a panel featuring former State Representative Bill Reardon, State Board of Education member Janet Waugh and KCK School Board President Gloria Willis.

The Cass Co. Central Democratic Meeting Election of Office will be held Tuesday, August 19, at 7:00 pm on the 3rd floor of the Courthouse on the Square. This is a special statewide party assigned date. Although open to the public, this is a committeeman meeting and only committeemen/women are allowed to vote to elect new officers.

Labor Day, Monday, September 1 is the Greater Kansas City Labor Day Parade and Picnic. The parade begins at 11 am, with the picnic beginning around 12:30 at the South Lawn at Liberty Memorial Park. The picnic features a concert with many bands and is very family friendly, with moonwalks, clowns, cotton candy, skydivers and a Chinook helicopter. The KCK Fire Fighters Union will be grilling the hot dogs, and a full lunch costs $3.50, which benefits the MDA food drive, and is co-sponsored by Brotherhood Bank. Lawn chairs and coolers are welcome.

The first in a series of debates between Democrat Jay Nixon and Republic Kenny Holshof will be on September 11 at 3:15 pm from the Fisher Auditorium, MU School of Journalism, in Columbia, MO. Hosted by the Missouri Press Association.

One of the first to publish a book and DVD about the inside job of 9/11, Don Paul will speak about who perpetrated 9/11 on the world, how the foundation of lies are used to bring about fascism throughout the world--and most importantly, what we can do about what we know.
