Join Democracy For the Heart of America at the free screening of Iraq For Sale. This much talked about movie is by Robert Greenwald (Outfoxed, Walmart: The High Cost of Low Prices). In Iraq for Sale, Greenwald takes you inside the lives of soldiers, truck drivers, widows and children who have been changed forever as a result of profiteering in the reconstruction of Iraq. The film uncovers the connections between private corporations making a killing in Iraq and the decision makers who let it happen. This is a film the neocons DON'T want you to see! RSVP not required, but appreciated!

Dean Rallies Democratic Activists

Democracy for America flexes muscle

By JASON ROSENBAUM

Buoyed by prospects of gaining political traction in the Show Me State, Democracy for Missouri held its statewide organizing conference yesterday to stoke the fires for the upcoming general election.

Local organizers from around the state converged at Carpenter’s Local 1925 hall to discuss ways to drive Democratic voters to the polls. The Missouri group is a branch of Democracy for America, an offshoot of former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean’s presidential candidacy that seeks to organize support for local and national candidates who champion a progressive agenda.

Like so many of us, the birth of my son Jasper caused a major reassessment of the priorities in my life. I came to understand that even though I could survive the mismanagement of our precious public resources, Jasper could not, and neither could the thousands of other Missouri children. No longer could I just sit by and wait for others to stand up and make Missouri government responsible to Missourians again.

Every day I am blessed to be surrounded by people who put their money and effort where their mouth is, who work tirelessly in serving those who most need it. They understand their responsibility to one another, and live up to that responsibility every day.
