Who We Are

The Dog Friendly Hotel Association ("we", "us") is an independent, non-profit association. This notice explains how we handle personal information when you use this website, contact us, apply for membership, or report a concern to our ombudsman.

What We Collect

Why We Use It

To answer your enquiry, to assess and manage memberships, to investigate and mediate disputes, to keep the public register accurate, and to understand and improve the site. Nothing more.

Our Lawful Basis

We only use your information where the law gives us a proper reason to. Depending on the situation, that reason is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time; the need to enter and manage a membership with you; our legitimate interest in running the register and the ombudsman fairly and in keeping the site secure; or a legal obligation we have to meet. Where we rely on your consent, you are free to decline or to change your mind.

What We Never Do

We never sell your personal data. We never rent or trade it. We do not pass your details to a hotel without your say-so, and we never hand the ombudsman's confidential reports to anyone except as needed to resolve the matter or where the law requires it.

Who Handles Your Data

To run the association we rely on a small number of trusted service providers, for example our website host, our analytics, the database where we keep membership and register records, and, where you pay for membership, our payment provider. They may only process your information on our instructions and to provide their service to us, never for their own purposes. Some of these providers operate in other countries; where that happens, we take steps to see that your information stays protected to the same standard. We do not store full payment card details ourselves, as these are handled directly by our payment provider.

Cookies and Analytics

We keep tracking to a minimum and use privacy-respecting analytics that do not follow you around the web. Where your consent is needed for any non-essential cookie, we will ask for it plainly and you can decline.

How Long We Keep It

Only as long as we need it for the purpose you gave it, or as the law requires. Membership and dispute records are kept while they are relevant to the register, then deleted.

Your Rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to give you a copy in a portable form, or to object to or restrict how we use it, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Just email us and we will help. If you are ever unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can also complain to the data protection authority in your country.

Changes

We may update this notice from time to time. The current version always lives here, and we will date any material change.
